<span itemprop="description">I have my k701's for about 14 years now. They're crisp and clean in the highs and mids. Best set if you're serious about music production. Every instrument comes through at a very high resolution. They need about a thousand hours to burn in before they really shine. Had mine recabeled 13 years ago with moon audio's Black Dragon cable.</span>

The only excetion is fot mobility where I use the GRADO RS125E 'cause are smaller but good enought. Sonically pleasing, with a punch you wont imagine from a reference class.</span>

Our AKG K701's width can not be adjusted. The padded leather headband will fit almost head sizes.

AKG K240 has 55 Ohm rated impedance, so AKG 701 will sound roughly the same. With Focusrite 2i2 an additional amplifier is probably needed.

When plugging them direct into my iPhone i get no bass response at all - assume that's because there is no amp power - however when i plug them into my edirol UA-25 external sound card still no real low end at all! These were sold for mixing/mastering!?

The K701 headphones sound a LOT better when plugged into a good amplifier! Plugging them directly into a phone or computer will not drive them to their full potential! At low listening levels, you can EQ some extra low end below 100hz. I would NOT recommend this for loud levels. AKG has some models that deliver heavy bass at loud levels. It is a matter of personal preference! The K701 has a very accurate, neutral sound signature, which makes them very good for mixing and mastering. I have had my K701s for over a year and I love them!!!.
